Product roadmapping is a systematic approach to charting the future direction of a product, product line or product portfolio.  This comprehensive roadmapping process is an excellent way to support product development planning, internal communication, resource allocation, budgeting/forecasting and product portfolio management.

In this live PSN Talkcast, we’ll interview two experienced product managers about their practices, tips and lessons learned with developing product roadmaps. We’ll discuss their approach to achieving strategic, actionable roadmaps, setting priorities, gaining buy-in, and much more. You’ll have a chance to ask your questions, too.

Questions We Will Ask Our Panelists

We will begin the talkcast by asking our panelists the following questions about their experiences with developing product roadmaps.

  • Why do you create a product roadmap? What value have you received from creating a roadmap?
  • What is your approach to creating a roadmap for your products? Who is involved and who leads it? How often does roadmapping occur?
  • How have you obtained a product roadmap that is strategic?
  • How do you set priorities for the many items that could make it onto your roadmap?
  • Is product roadmapping a regular, systematic approach in your organization? How did you achieve this?
  • How do you get the buy-in that is critical to managing your roadmap?
  • When and how are product roadmaps shared between product teams and product managers?

In addition, you will have ample opportunity to submit your own questions on this topic for the panelists to answer.
