Our Instructors

The Product Strategy Network draws upon highly experienced managers and executives who have a unique blend of practical industry and teaching experience. The instructors have an average of 20 years of experience with small to large, startup and established, and public and private technology companies. They know the job and its challenges. The added advantage is they are able to draw from the practices of the practitioners who are part of the Product Strategy Network.

Diane Harris

Diane Harris is an instructor for the PSN Understanding Customer Needs workshop. She brings 30 years of experience with conducting qualitative research studies and uncovering customer insights, and she began her career with 11 years in Proctor & Gamble's legendary Market Research Department where she managed the company's qualitative research program. Ms. Harris has extensive experience using many techniques including ethnographic studies, voice-of-customer interviews, and on-site and on-line focus groups. She has conducted over 4,000 interviews and focus groups with a wide range of customer types and industries.

Ms. Harris is a past-President and Board Member for the Qualitative Research Consultants Association (QRCA.)

Tom Kubilius

Tom Kubilius is an instructor for the PSN Understanding Customer Needs workshop. He has over 15 years experience translating customer needs into useful outcomes. He has conducted qualitative customer research and product design programs for companies that make medical devices, personal electronics, warehouse productivity products, kitchen devices, transportation and fitness equipment.

In his career, he has led and/or delivered these qualitative research, analysis and design programs for a wide range of companies including Alcoa, Vocollect, ClearCount Medical, Cohera Medical, Neurolife, and Bright Innovation. He began his career with Accenture and Intelligroup helping companies such as Heinz, the New York Stock Exchange, and Colgate understand their needs and requirements for enterprise resource planning systems. Tom is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon's Master of Product Development program.

Suzy Teele

Suzy Teele is an instructor for the PSN Product Roadmapping and PSN Evaluating Product Opportunities workshops. Ms. Teele's 20+ year career in technology product and marketing strategy includes executive positions with two high-growth public technology companies, Legent (now part of Computer Associates) and ServiceWare (now part of KNOVA Software.) She began her tenure at Legent as Technical Trainer, and later became General Manager of a division with 225 employees that developed and marketed 35 technology products and $200 million in revenue. At ServiceWare, she was the Sr. VP of Marketing and an executive officer. As chief executive of management consulting firm Aceda, Ms. Teele helped to launch 11 high technology and life sciences companies.

Tom Murray 

Tom Murray is an instructor for the PSN Product Positioning Strategy and PSN Product Roadmapping workshops. He is a proven executive with over 20 years experience in high tech strategic planning, marketing and product management, for high growth firms in the United States and internationally. He has had responsibilities for over 40 technology products across more then 15 product lines in his career. He is also an adjunct professor of Strategic Planning and Product Management at Carnegie Mellon University.

In his career, Mr. Murray has served as VP of Strategic Planning and Marketing for Marconi Corporation Broadband Networking Group (now part of Ericsson), VP of Marketing and Product Management at Haley Systems (a producer of business rules management software for the enterprise), and Product Line Manager and Program Manager at FORE Systems (a manufacturer of Internet switching equipment,) and Managing Partner of Wexford Run Consulting. He began his career in field engineering and product management with various telecommunications manufacturers.

Erin Cosgrove

Erin Cosgrove is an instructor for the PSN Product Positioning Strategy workshop.  She is currently a Marketing Segment Manager with GE Healthcare and has over 11 years of experience in product management and marketing. Prior to GE Healthcare, she was a Strategic Marketing Manager with MEDRAD. In her career, she has experienced first-hand the difference correct positioning can make in the success of a product.  Ms. Cosgrove has led cross-functional teams to develop and execute product positioning and launch strategies for several medical device products. In her career, she has conducted training classes in marketing and product design management. Ms. Cosgrove is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University's MBA program.

Bob Monroe

Bob Monroe is an instructor for the PSN Evaluating Product Opportunities and PSN Product Roadmapping workshops. He has 17 years of experience in leading technology product development and teaching. In addition to serving as a PSN workshop instructor, he is a faculty member of the Carnegie Mellon University's Tepper School of Business focusing on innovation in technology industries. He is the co-coordinator of CMU's Technology Leadership MBA track, which brings the university's top-ranked schools of business and technology together in a unique and powerful program.

Prior to joining the CMU faculty in 2004, he held several technical leadership and engineering positions with FreeMarkets (a provider of innovative sourcing solutions and now part of Ariba), IBM, OptiMetrics and Carnegie Group (now part of LogicaCMG.) At FreeMarkets, he was responsible for managing product development teams, the overall design and architecture of the company's technology products, conducting technical and strategic due diligence of prospective mergers and acquisitions, and he helped to evaluate and set corporate technology strategy. In his career, he played key technical roles in the development of technology for air-traffic control, simulation, and decision-support systems. Dr. Monroe has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University.

Jim Berardone

Jim Berardone, CEO and President of the Product Strategy Network (PSN), has over 20 years of experience in managing and commercializing technology products and solutions. He serves as the PSN's principal researcher and developer of the PSN Symphony™ Methodologies from this on-going research. Prior to forming the PSN, Mr. Berardone held management positions in product management, product marketing, product development and program management with Fujitsu, Perot Systems, Nets Inc., Industry.Net, and SAE International. In his career, he has led the strategy, planning, development or commercialization of nearly 70 technology products serving the manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, electronics, and media industries.
